Production Jobs:

Our primary production shift begins at 5:30 a.m. and runs Monday through Friday. Many positions require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

The Fillet Department: We run both a hand-cutting line and a machine line to process whole fish into fillets and other cuts.  Positions include hand cutting, trimming, machine operations, packing, and production assistants.

The Scallop Department: Scallops from around the world are processed in our facility.  Graders, packers and production helpers are key department positions.

Plant Services Department: The crew in this department handles various services for production including box making, maintenance and sanitation. Plant Services operate shifts that extend beyond the processing day.

Shipping and Receiving:

All incoming and outgoing products are controlled here.  The department runs from 5:00 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Friday, with overlapping coverage.  CDL class B drivers for our interstate short haul routes and airport deliveries are part of this department.

Administrative and Sales Office:

Warehouse Associates (local applicants only please), Portland, ME

Warehouse Associates are responsible for picking product from the Fresh and Frozen Finished Goods Inventories and Freezer Inventories and packing orders for shipment to customers – extremely fast paced. May be required to load and unload trucks. May be assigned inventory control duties. Warehouse employees also maintain the packing room, shipping/receiving area and the shipping floor area in clean, organized and 5S condition at all times. Must have strong attention to detail, ability to work in a cold environment, computer skills, and a positive, professional attitude. This position reports directly to the Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor. Day Shift hours to be determined, ranging from a 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. start to a 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. end. Weekly schedule may include Sunday.

 

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • Fluency/literacy in English, strong math and counting skills, ability to read sales orders and bills of lading.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to operate various mechanical lifts required.
  • Knowledge of various types of seafood and the ability to visually distinguish species is expected to be learned on the job.
  • Ability to treat coworkers with respect.
  • Attention to detail and a strong quality orientation is required.

 

Food Safety Duties and Backup:

The warehouse crew is responsible for ensuring plant and product security and the food safety of all stored products. The warehouse crew inspects all incoming and outgoing products according to standards set by the QC department and documents assigned for quality, food safety and critical control point measures. They monitor the temperatures of the coolers and the freezer and ensure that all products are properly stored and kept frozen, chilled and/or iced as appropriate. The warehouse crew backs up each other as assigned by the Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor.

 

Key Duties:

  • Pick finished goods and pack orders.
  • Entering movement of product into the computer system.
  • Storing all products in the appropriate storage areas and containers.
  • Operating mechanical lifts as required.
  • Maintaining site and freezer safety and security procedures.
  • Assisting other warehouse team members as needed in duties such as preparation of orders for shipment, interacting with supplier and customer representatives delivering or picking-up products and preparation and verification of shipping documents on the computer system.

 

Environmental Factors:

Plant environment is cool and wet and includes machinery and power lifts. Entering the freezer may be required daily. Frequent lifting of weights up to 50 pounds would be required. Lifting of weight over fifty pounds would only be done with assistance. Outside of the freezer, the environment is cool and often wet with temperatures typically ranging from 35 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
