Bristol Seafood joins the National Fisheries Institute to support and promote education about seafood safety, sustainability, and nutrition.
PORTLAND, Maine, Mar. 10, 2015 Peter Handy, Vice President – Business Development, today announced that Bristol Seafood has joined the National Fisheries Institute (NFI).
The National Fisheries Institute is a non-profit organization whose primary focus is to educate individuals about seafood safety, sustainability, and nutrition. NFI members are committed to sustainable management and being stewards of our environment by endorsing the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Fisheries.
“We are pleased to have Bristol Seafood, a progressive and growing seafood company, join the National Fisheries Institute and look forward to working with them to further our mission,” said John Connelly, President of NFI.
“The NFI is a terrific organization that is working diligently to improve the seafood industry and, ultimately, to help promote growth in seafood consumption,” said Handy. “In addition, like the NFI, at Bristol we are committed to furthering integrity in the industry, and we are proud to sign their economic integrity pledge with respect to proper labeling for weights, counts, species, and country of origin.”
“Bristol Seafood is one of our larger suppliers and we were anxious to have them join NFI to take advantage not only of the great networking opportunities and the tremendous informational aspects of NFI, but to keep themselves abreast of, and hopefully get involved in, the work it does to support and improve the seafood industry.” Said Roger, O’Brien, CEO of California-based Santa Monica Seafood. “Santa Monica just joined NFI this past year; we’re very glad we did, and we’re happy to have a critically important supplier like Bristol Seafood jumping in as well. “
